Chennai Super Kings

Chennai: A warm Sunday afternoon as the Indian Cricket team was checking into Taj Coromandel, Chennai, a small crew of technicians and excited cameramen occupied the presidential suite on the seventh floor. In walked the Indian cricket team and Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni clad in the Super Kings team jersey and amidst much frenzy, rattled off the following lines: “Dhoni.. MS Dhoni… Chennai Super kings Junior yaar? Namma Vijay TV paar!” in typical Tamil filmi style and a signature hand gesture to go along with it.
It was the promo shoot for the launch of two new shows Chennai Super Kings Juniors and Chennai Super Kings Cheerleaders. A masterstroke by STAR’s Tamil channel Vijay TV to capitalize on the much awaited IPL season and the cricket crazy public of Tamil Nadu. These soon to be launched shows are sure shot winners given the attention that cricketers and cricket and especially the super stardom that Dhoni can rope in.
But Dhoni isn’t alone. The other Super Kings team members like VB Chandrasekar, Subramaniam Badrinath, Laxmipathy.Balaji, Krishnamachari Srikanth and the leader of the bandwagon Drums Sivamani are to also adorn the screens on Vijay TV.
Rakesh Singh, Head-Marketing, India Cements, says: “The first season of IPL was a roaring success and the Chennai Super Kings reached the finals. We wanted a television partner with whom we could associate and take this great brand to the roots of Tamil Nadu.
