This type of cranes are generally used for outdoor applications where columns cannot be accommodated. The top main girder is balanced between the two A shaped column resting on the wheel mounted end carriage.
Main Girder: - The girders of the crane is designed keeping in the mind consideration of the class, frequency of operation and duty cycle. Different girders that can be installed include RSJ type, plate box type or truss type for single girder with its bottom flange as path for trolley of hoist. Double girder design are also available for heavy duty applications. The tracks are laid on the top of girders for travel of crab wheels of material handling gantry cranes.
